Chapter 6: I would prefer to
teach in a class that has more digital technologies. I believe that teaching
using interesting technology enhances the amount that my future students will
pay attention. I also think the more technology used the more my students will
be engaged into what they are learning and will remember more. I
also think that I have to make sure I know what I’m doing when it comes to
using technology in the classroom. If I don’t know how to use a device or
program, I wont use it in my class until I know how to use it. Over all I do
think the more technology used the better it is.
Chapter 11: There are several
traditional audio technologies that can be used in the classroom. I think that
I would use the audiocassettes the most. Audiocassettes can be used in an early
childhood classroom. I would use audiocassettes to help children learn
vocabulary and read stories. If I got sick and a sub came in I could record the
lesson plan on the audiocassette. This would be a quick, easy, and possibly more
detailed way to leave the lesson plan for the sub and the students. One
emerging audio technology is the iPod or iPad. I would use the iPod in my
classroom because I think it can be a great asset to the classroom for songs
that have to do with learning. It would be very engaging. I would use the iPad
to download general subject games, so the students could practice before tests.
I would also use the iPad to play videos and songs that can be related to
lessons.
One emerging visual technology that I
would love to use in the classroom is the e-book. The e-book can be used to
download several books that are used in the classroom and also save a lot of
money. One traditional visual technology
that I would use is an overhead projector. I would use this to display problems
to the entire class instead of passing out separate worksheets. I would also be
able to solve one problem in front of the whole class rather than going from
desk to desk trying to explain. Using an overhead projector would also save a
lot of time. I also would probably like to use a smart board. It would do
everything that an overhead projector would but would be more engaging,
especially when it comes to writing papers, study/text reviews and more.
